Visiting Angels elderly home care service in Akron has been in business since July 1999. The Ohio Visiting Angels team is lead by Judith Wood RN, aka Jodi Wood. Jodi is a graduate of Kent State University's nursing program and worked at Summa Health System for 13 years before starting her elderly care business in the Tallmadge area.

She employs over 100 elderly home caregivers who all work under her direct supervision.  Many of the caregivers have worked with her for years servicing the Akron elderly. She has also published several articles to help the elderly and their care providers with items of concern such as medication management and tips on fall prevention.
